As a managing consultancy, gaining new clients can often be a challenge, especially when you’re faced with an increase in competition. With that desire for growth in mind, making sure your consultancy is easy to find online is essential.

By marketing your consultancy effectively, you can greatly increase your chances of getting new leads and clients by being present when right-fit prospects are searching for your services online. Once you’ve picked a relevant keyword for that piece, your blog will start to compete with other content that includes the keyword you’ve chosen and is being shared online.

To enhance your keyword efforts further, and improve your chances of reaching those prime spots on Google when someone searches for that keyword (i.e. showing up in the first page results of the search engine), include a relevant meta description, slug/URL, and title that includes the keyword, while ensuring your content is keyword dense and has a number of internal and external website links included in the body.

In essence, SEO optimising a piece of content will drive traffic to your website when someone searches for the keywords you’re using, but beware! There is a careful balance between keyword optimised content and keyword stuffing–Google penalises and de-ranks content that includes keywords that don’t fit into the context of the piece or when a keyword is overused.

To do that, you need to write good quality content, as Google will serve your piece to more and more people when it sees that you’re getting engagement from readers. That’s why it’s really important to regularly produce relevant, informative content and to promote it online. By consistently writing articles, blogs, etc., that are current and educational, you’re able to position your consultancy as a leader in its industry. This will strike a chord with your target audience, enticing them to seek out more information and advice from you; which in turn is an opportunity for you to build relationships and nurture conversations to the point where the logical next step is to become a paying client.

Only 21% of management consultancy firms use content as a form of marketing (Propero Partner’s UK Industry Report) so, embrace what so few of your competitors are doing and use content to get ahead.
